¿µ¾î ÃÊ·Ï
This paper aims to make the localization strategy of UNESCO peace education at the basis of peacebuilding in the Korean peninsula, by the way of codifying the UNESCO peace education-related documents and reconstructing them. Peace education surely is at the heart of UNESCO¡¯s raison d être. Since the inauguration of UNESCO in 1946, in
response to political and social developments, lots of UNESCO documents on the global issues such as human rights, anti-discrimination, diversity, environment and lifelong learning have been ratified in the name of declaration, recommendation and convention. The¡®convention against discrimination in education.¡¯is the foremost one among them. With an Assumption that they are the universal criteria to be applied to the UNESCO member countries all over the world, UNESCO peace education is composed of four elements that are the rights to peace for the culture of peace, global justice-based, tolerance/nonviolence/diversity, and holistic pedagogy. Thus, UNESCO peace education
might be the shared definition for ROK and DPRK as a member country of UNESCO.
This is the reason why I suggest the localization of UNESCO peace education for the peacebuilding in the Korean peninsula rather than forging the reunification education that provokes lots of disagreements between two antagonistic systems.
