This study aims to the extent to which successful aging in old age influences trajectories of depression by looking into the factors of successful aging. This study employs latent growth curve modeling and uses Waves 4 (additional survey), 5, 6 and 7 of the Korean Retirement and Income Study (KReIS). The sample of the study is 1,654 older adults aged 65 or above with spouse and child. Key findings are as follows: First, as time goes, depression of older adults has increased. Second, impacts of successful aging factors on trajectories of depression are mixed. ¡®Life feeling self-efficacy¡¯ was found to influence the initial status of depression but has no impacts on the slope of depression. ¡®Companion life with spouse¡¯ was found not to have effects on the initial status but to have impacts on the slope negatively. ¡®Life with self-control¡¯ nor ¡®Satisfaction with children¡¯s success¡¯ had on impacts on neither initial status nor slope of depression. This study concludes with several implications for policy and practice.
