The importance-performance analysis (IPA) is a widely used simple and effective technique that identifies service improvement priorities. As numerous empirical studies have shown, the relationship between performance and importance is not independent, and the relationship between performance and overall satisfaction is not linear and symmetric. The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of traditional IPA through empirical analysis and to evaluate the key competencies of university students by applying two revised IPA. The data used are the results of the self - filling questionnaire obtained from 1,045 graduates of Seoul S University. The questionnaire consisted of the importance, performance of the ten key competency skills and overall satisfaction. Empirical analysis has shown that the two assumptions of traditional IPA are not established. The modified IPA-1 and modified IPA-2 method, in which the implicit importance is obtained by partial correlation coefficients and multiple regression coefficients, respectively, are mathematically explained and analyzed using data. As a result, S university needs to concentrate on problem solving ability, resource management ability, and technical ability. In the present study, it is expected that the IPA which is widely used in the marketing field can be modified and applied.
