이 글의 목적은 뉴스 보도 댓글과 온라인 커뮤니티의 게시글을 중심으로, ‘펜스룰’과 관련된 토론 내용을 분석하여 미투 운동에 대한 남성 중심 온라인 커뮤니티가 구축해 낸 담론의 내용과 그 특성을 밝히는 것에 있다. 미투 운동은 직장 내 성폭력 구조와 성차별에 대한 폭로는 물론, 사회에 만연한 가부장제적 성인식을 드러내려는 것이다. 하지만 남성 커뮤니티의 담론 구조를 살펴본 결과, “성폭력은 권력의 문제”라는 페미니즘의 문제 제기는 권력을 가진 남성과 그렇지 않은 남성이라는 이분법적 구조 속에서 재구성되었다. 이에 따라 미투 운동의 성별 권력에 대한 문제제기는 잘못된 페미니즘의 결과이며, 미투 운동은 약자의 인권 운동이라는 식으로 변형되어 구성되었다. 이 근간에는 “남성-약자” 세대론이 있는데, 성차별과 구조의 문제는 부인하고 20대 청년 세대의 약자 남성이라는 정체성을 구성하고 있었다. 따라서 펜스룰은 남성 약자에게는 자구책이며 미투 운동의 본질은 변질되었다는 주장이 제기된다. 미투 운동과 관련하여, 온라인 남성 커뮤니티의 담론 체계는 ‘미투’가 ‘펜스룰’을 필요로 하는 ‘남성에 대한 위협’이라는 정보에 해당하는 것만을 모아 의미를 부여한 결과물이다. ‘무고’ 상황이 매우 중요한 뉴스 가치를 가지며, 언론 보도의 선택적 수용 역시 이러한 맥락에서 이루어지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 남성 약자 담론이 온라인을 통해 구성되고 공유되는 문제에 개입하기 위해서, 대안적 남성성에 대한 논의 및 청년 세대 남성에 대한 연구가 필요함을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this article is to analyze discourse associated to the Pence Rule, focusing on news report comments and online community posts, to shed light on the discourse laid down by male centered online communities on the Me Too movement and associated characteristics. The Me Too movement attempts to expose the structure of sexual assault in the workplace along with sexual discrimination and patriarchal gender consciousness that is prevalent in society.
However, observations of discourse structures in male communities showed that the problem posed by feminism that sexual assault is an issue of power was appropriated into a dichotomy of males with power and those without power.
Therefore, the problem of intersectionality posed by feminism appears appropriated as a Male-Disadvantaged generation theory and it denies the issue of sexual discrimination and structure while it constructs an identity for young generation males in their twenties. Therefore, the Pence Rule is a self-saving plan for disadvantaged males and arguments are being presented that the nature of the Me Too movement has been corrupted. The conditions of the online community are creating a new battlefield for feminism and anti-feminism through attention economy. With regard to the Me Too movement, the discourse system of online male communities is a result that has imparted meaning through attention economy by putting together only that information that conforms to the argument that Me Too is a threat to males who need the Pence Rule. It was found that false accusations have very important news value and that the selective accommodation of news reports was being conducted within this context.
