The aims of this study are to introduce Intergroup dialogues, which is a group intervention to develop multicultural competency, and to suggest multiple ways to utilize Intergroup dialogue in school settings. Intergroup dialogue aims to build relationships and increase racial or ethnic consciousness from participants with two distinct social identity
groups. Participants of the Intergroup dialogues will experience the opportunity to critically discuss race, learn skills to communicate across difference, understand privilege and oppression, and develop leadership. The sustained-encounter dialogical model may face challenges due to limited time and funding. This study proposed one day Intergroup dialogues workshop using affinity groups. Considering limited abstract thinking ability during childhood and adolescence, it can be an alternative way to educate students about social justice and prejudice. In addition, it is also suggested ways to integrate intergroup techniques into syllabus.
