¿µ¾î ÃÊ·Ï
The purpose of this study is to develop assessment tools for elementary school students listening and speaking competence based on 2015 revised English curriculum and evaluate the validity and practicality of them in the classroom. For this purpose, survey responses were collected from 119 English teachers nationwide and 207 fifth and sixth graders in G Metropolitan City. Based on the survey results, listening and speaking assessment tasks were developed. First, the 5th and 6th graders¡¯ listening and speaking achievement standards in the curriculum were analyzed. All fourteen achievements standards were evaluated in terms of curriculum conformity, clarity and practicality. Two of the standards needed to be revised, while the other standards were proved to be valid and practical. All fourteen standards were applied to developing listening and speaking assessment tasks. Each task consists of goals, input, activity and procedure, performance task, test criterion, and outcomes. Next, five experts measured these tasks on their content validity and criteria validity. The results showed that all the assessment tasks had low validity in their task and criteria. Integration of listening and speaking activities was not authentic and communicative. The results led us to revise the tasks in three ways: First, listening and speaking have been integrated gradually and naturally. Second, the listening and speaking criteria have been made simple for the ease of administration. Third, the level descriptors of listening and speaking assessment have been clearly specified for the sake of practicality in the classroom.
