¿µ¾î ÃÊ·Ï
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of animal and plant growing activities on pre-service childcare teachers attitudes toward science and science teaching efficacy. The subjects were 53 pre-service childcare teachers in university. Before and after practicing animal and plant growing activities for 1 month, we examined pre-service childcare teachers attitudes toward science and science teaching efficacy. We also analyzed individual science inquiry journals. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, science education using animal and plant growing activities reveals positive effects on the attitudes toward science. Second, the attitude changes of pre-service childcare teachers about science were showed increasing of positive recognition and interest about observing subject, value and sanctity of life, recognition of responsibility and better ability to take care of animal and plant, satisfaction and happiness of scientific activity. Third, animal and plant growing activities reveals positive effects on the science teaching efficacy. Finally, in the science teaching, the individual efficacy of pre-service childcare teachers through animal and plant growing activity was increased into the experiential and expended scientific knowledge, ability to acquire scientific information, careful observation ability, and into the self-confidence
as pre-service childcare teachers. They have reflective thinking about the importance of science teacher s role.
