The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of college student¡¯s financial aid policy including Korean national grants on college education outcomes such as GPA and adjustment to college. In doing so, the study utilized data of the 7th~9th year from the Korean Education Longitudinal Study and applied a causal mediation effect model for statistical analyses. Findings showed that the effects of college student¡¯s financial aid policy on GPA and college adjustment were considerable in 2012, shortly after the national grant policy was introduced. However, the effect size gradually decreased as both scope of students eligible for national grants and the total amount of nation grants were expanded. Similar results showed in the relationships among the amount of national grants that students received, the proportion of the financial aid money to the total tuition, and college education outcomes: The marginal effect of the financial aid was diminished as time went by. Based on these findings, the study suggested that the scope of eligible students should be narrow and the amount of grants per student should be increased to enhance the effectiveness of college student¡¯s financial aid policy.
