본 연구의 목적은 공교육에서 주관하는 유아영재교육에 대한 교사 및 학부모의 인식을 비교 조사하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 경기도 소재 국 ․공립 병설유치원에 근무하는 교사 108명과 용인지역 국 ․공립 병설유치원에 자녀가 재원중인 학부모 107명이다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘유아영재교육에 대한 인식의 차이’에 대한 전반적 연구 중 유
아영재교육에 대한 관심의 정도는 학부모가 교사보다 조금 더 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 유아영재가 갖추어야 할 요소에 대해서도 교사집단은 창의성, 자아개념, 과제 집착력 순으로, 학부모 집단에서는 창의성, 자아개념, 호기심의 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사와 학부모 모두 공교육에서 주관하는 유아영재교육 기관의 부재로 인한 문제점을 심각하게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 공교육에서 주관하는 유아영재교육 지원체제 및 전망에 대해 교사는 수업여건 보장을 위해서 교원 인사상 혜택을 가장 중요하게 선택하였고, 유아영재담당교사 선발은 교육경력자 중 희망자에 한하여 선발하는 방법을 선호하였다. 학부모는 영재교육관련 부모교육을 실시할 경우 자녀발달과 부모-자녀간 관계에 응용하기 위하여 연수받기를 희망하였다. 교사와 학부모 모두 유아영재 교육 시기는 만 5세가 적절하며, 활동주기는 주당 2회가 적합하고, 초등 저학년까지 연계하여 운영되어야 한다고 하였다. 유아영재교육기관 운영 시 교사 1인당 교육인원에 있어서 교사집단은 3～5명을 선호하였으며, 학부모집단은 3～5명과 6～7명의 유사한 결과가 나왔다. 공교육에서 주관하는 유아영재교육이 활성화되어야 한다는 견해에 대해서는 두 집단 모두 높은지지도를 보여주었다. 이러한 결과를 종합해볼 때, 국가에서 유아영재교육에 대한 관심을 기울이고 법적제도적 지원을 마련해주는 것이 바람직하다고 사료된다.

The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze parents’ and teachers’ recognition for ‘basic research on education for gifted children supervised by public education.’ focusing in public kindergarten. The survey was carried out for 108 teachers working at public kindergartens in Gyeonggi province and 107 parents of the children attending in kindergartens in Yongin. The results were as follows: First, in the overall research on ‘the difference in recognition of education for gifted children,’ it turned out that the parents had more interest in education for gifted children than the teachers did. Teachers and parents had different opinion about the elements that gifted children. Second, in ‘the parents’ and teachers’ recognition of the installation and operation of educational institutions for gifted children supervised by public education,’ both groups seriously recognized the problems of the absence of educational institutions for gifted children supervised by public education. Third, as a result of an analysis of the parents’ group, when there was parents’ education related to education for gifted children, they wanted to receive training to apply it to child development and their relationship with children, and most of them responded that they would respect their children’s opinions on the participation of education for gifted children. Both the teachers’ group and the parents’ group responded that the full age of 5 years old would be appropriate for the training of gifted children; that twice a week would be appropriate for the activity cycle. There were different opinion between 2 groups in the number of students per one teacher, the identification method of candidates, the methods of selecting and operating educational institutions, programs. Lastly, for the opinion that education for gifted children based on public education should be activated, both groups showed high support. To sum up these findings, it is desirable for the state to pay attention to education for gifted children and to prepare legal and institutional support.
