한국은 바야흐로 공유가치창출 (CSV) 의 시대이다 . 기업들은 새로운 경영 패러다임으로 공 유가치창출을 내세우고 학계는 그 확산과 전파에 열성을 기울인다 . 그 덕분에 심지어 일 반대중들의 입에까지 오르내리게 된 CSV 의 캐치프레이즈는 “ 이제 CSR 이 아닌 CSV 의 시대” 이다 . 기업의 사회적 책임 (CSR) 은 가고 CSV 가 CSR 을 대신한다는 것이다 . 과연 CSV 가 무엇이기에 오랜 동안 지속되어온 CSR 에 대한 논쟁을 단숨에 잠재우고 무한성장과 자본 주의의 치유까지 할 수 있는 대안의 개념으로 등장하게 되었는가 ? 이 글은 먼저 CSV 가 무엇인지를 정리하고 포터가 언급한 1) CSV 는 새로운 프레임웍의 경영전략이다 2) CSV는 위기에 자본주의를 개혁한다 3) CSV 는 CSR 을 대체한다는 세 가지 주장에 대해 과연 그러한지를 고찰해보고 , 이를 바탕으로 한국은 왜 CSV 에 열광하는지 , 그리고 CSV 에 대한 우리사회의 무조건적인 수용에 비효율적인 부작용은 없는지를 제시해 본다 .

CSV, creating shared value, is prevailing. Corporations are advocating CSV as their new business paradigm backed up by academia evangelizing it with unprecedented enthusiasm. Even in the public minds, it seems irrefutable that CSR is out and CSV is in. What is this CSV about, to cut off long standing debates around corporate social responsibility and come into the picture as an alternative ideology which allegedly enables firms to reinvent capitalism under siege without compromising sustainable growth? To answer the question, this short article summarizes what CSV is and investigates what Porter has claimed: 1) CSV is new framework of business strategy 2) CSV reinvents capitalism under siege, and finally 3) CSR has to be replaced by CSV. On the basis of the investigation, this essay also probes why Korea is so into CSV and if there are any potential negative effects resulted form this enthusiasm.
