본 연구는 세계화, 국제화시대에 있어서 한국의 전래 자장가에 관한 개관을 통하여 영유아기 성장과 발달에 필수적인 한국 고유의 전래 자장가에 대하여 구체적으로 살펴봄으로써 추후 한국의 전통 자장가를 활성화하고 보급하는 기초 자료를 제공하고자 하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 한국 고유의 전래 자장가에 대한 전반적인 이해와 지역별 전래 자장가 분석을 통하여 한국 전래 자장가에 관한 연구의 기초로서 영유아기 성장과 발달에 필수적인 전래 자장가에 대한 한국 고유의 전래 자장가에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 전통 자장가를 활성화하고 보급하는 기초를 제안하고자 하였다. 세계화, 국제화 시대에 우리 전래 자장가라는 가장 한국적인 것을 자연스럽게 육아에 접목하여 활용함으로써 가장 세계적인 것이 될 수 있다는 자부심과 더불어 우리 전통문화를 지키고 사랑하는 마음을 실천하는 것은 부모에게도 아기에게도 매우 중요하고 의미 있는 상황이 될 것이다. 또한 일종의 전승동요인 전래 자장가라는 전통문화를 지키고 이어가는 것은 자아정체감과 민족적 자긍심을 회복하는 데에도 많은 기여를 할 것이다.
본 연구에서는 한국 전래 자장가에 대한 개괄적인 문헌연구를 진행하였다. 추후 이상에서 전개한 문헌조사에 더하여 실제로 한국 전래 자장가를 영유아에게 불러주고 있는지, 불러준다면 영유아에게 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대하여 상세하게 관찰하고 실험하여 고찰함으로써 이론적으로 연구한 결과에 대한 구체적인 분석 작업이 이루어기를 기대한다.
