In the Korean history of Buddhism, Uisang occupies the leading position. As you know, when he was studying in China, he wrote the ¡ºIlseungbeopgyedo¡»(ìéã«ÛöÍ£Óñ). He proclaim ed that Buddha and all living beings are equal on the bas is of indiscrimination in the ¡ºIlseungbeopgyedo¡». In addition to this, he looked upon Buddha and all living beings as a manifestation of the nature of dharma in the viewpoint of the middle path. Later he came back to Silla and explained the idea of the body of five Korean foot (çéô©ãó). By this course, we are able to know the transfiguration of Uisang¡¯s thoughs on human beings. The same case is discovered in Lee Jema. Meanwhile,¡ºHwangjenaegyeong¡» is regarded as the oldest medical book in the oriental hi story of medicine. ¡ºHwangjenaegyeong¡» is based on the doctrine of the five natural elements of the Yin and Yang. It is said that the emotion of Joy-Anger-Sorrow-Pleasure (ýìÒÁäîÕ¥) is related to the five natural elements of the Yin and Yang(ëäåÕçéú¼) and the lake of harmony of the Yin and Yang leads to illness. While Lee Jema argued that the innate characteristics of the size of inner organs (íôݰÓÞá³) is determined by the emotion of Joy- Anger- Sorrow-Pleasure and we are sick because of it. He focused on the inside of the human being and volition. In conclusion, we note that Uisang and Lee Jema gave attention to the human being itself. They both made use of merits actively in the history of Korean Buddhism and medicine. Furthermore, their idea worked in practice. We lay greatness upon this point.
