The present study aims to explore better direction of the development of Korean forest kindergartens, which are on the beginning stage, by understanding German forest kindergarten education, the role-model of nature-friendly kindergarten education for many other countries. In order to achieve this aim, we examined both countries¡Ç forest kindergartens with respect to their backgrounds of establishment, educational goals, management, and daily schedule. The research method we adopted included both literature review and field studies in Korean and German forest kindergartens. The results were as follows: Fisrt, background of establishment and type of operation were differ between Korean and German forest kindergartens. German forest kindergartens founded by parent groups and community groups and local governments but Korean forest kindergartens founded by government agencies and university or a lab that used computers, corporation, businesses. German forest kindergartens operated in every-playing, Korean forest kindergartens operated in Experience. Second, educational goalsand daily schedule did not differ Korean and German forest kindergartens. The results suggest that child education institutes should implement the forest education for more children, which will lead to the children¡¯s balanced development of physical and mental abilities.
