The modern capitalistic mode of living had been spread through everyday life in the 1930's Korea. Baek Seok on purpose made a choice poetry genre, and at the same time, he accepted pure form of money.
Georg Simmel mentioned that features of pure form of money are'distance' and 'overcome' through mediation. The money reificationed exchange-function mediate between human and objects, also keep a distance between human and objects. This action of money made rhythm to the modern city's way of life, art and culture.
First Baek Seok kept a distance from objects through observer's eye. So we can find folksy material and catch the origin of symbolic representation in his poems.
But pure form of money also spreads negative way. For example cynicism and blase attitude are psychological tendency of modern citizen. The blasé attitude of colonial split subject is often appeared in Korean modern literature. But money is interesting cases in which the disease determines its own form of the cure. That is a ultimate mean of metaphor of folk food was often used in his poems.
