The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationship of variables related to the participation performance of adult learners in nursery teacher training centers, one of lifelong education institutions.
The following research questions were posed:
1. What is the structural relationship of self-directed learning capabilities, participation level, vocational identity and program characteristics to the performance of participation in nursery teacher training centers?
2. What are the mediating effects of participation level and vocational identity in a model for the participation performance of adult learners in nursery teacher training centers?
The findings of the study suggest that the participation performance of adult learners in nursery teacher training centers will be affected positively when their diverse needs are satisfied by preparing quality programs, effective teaching methods, pleasant learning spaces and a variety of teaching materials. As vocational identity functioned as a parameter between program characteristics and participation level and exerted a significant influence on the two variables, the best way will be to bolster the occupational belief and sense of calling of adult learners who participate in programs provided by nursery teacher training centers and will serve as lifelong educators in the future.
