The purpose of this study is to search for possible support plans aimed at families with both disabled and non-disabled infants. To achieve the purpose, raising difficulties and the support systems for their family was compared in Seoul- residential disabled females with mental, visual and hearing disability in raising children.
The results of this study can be summed up as follows: First, whether the child had disability or not did not pose great impact on parenting as it turned out that in both cases the mothers felt that raising children was difficult. The factors that hindered the disabled mothers in parenting the most were, by each disability, emotional care in the case of hearing impaired mothers, outdoor activities in the visually impaired female¡¯s case and identifying their children¡¯s growth in the case of the mentally disabled. Secondly, families with disabled members did not have much experience in service programs. Thirdly, out of all the available services,
level of satisfaction in assistance for activities of the disabled was the highest. The results implied that the need for disabled children¡¯s allowance and their rehabilitation was high whereas the actual level of satisfaction was relatively low.
