한국사회는 현재 고령화 사회에 진입하였고, 고령사회로 급속히 진행되고 있다. 이에 늘어나는 노인인구에 대한 대책으로 노인복합시설의 필요성이 크게 대두되고 있다.
노인복합시설의 이용은 도심화가 진행되고 있는 사회의 상황에 맞추어 증가하므로, 도심 내에 위치할 노인복합시설에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 도심 내 노인복합시설은 하나의 프로그램만을 가진 시설이 아닌 노인전문병원, 노인주거시설과 자연이 연계된 커뮤니티 시설로서의 역할까지 복합적으로 운영되도록 해야 한다.
현재 도심형 노인복지시설은 대체로 넓은 대지 안에 외부적 환경을 도입하여 설계된 종합병원과는 다르게 협소한 대지에 이익창출을 위한 형식적인 프로그램으로 구성되어 왔고, 진료를 위한 프로그램은 현저히 부족하여 건강상 문제가 생기면 종합병원으로 가야하는 불편함을 가지고 있다. 그러나 노인복합시설은 전문적인 진료가 필요한 병원, 노인들을 케어할 전문 인력, 그리고 주변의 자연을 통한 치유환경적 구성으로 노인의 건강에 큰 도움이 될 수 있어야 하며, 이러한 프로그램 들이 복합적으로 진행되어야 한다.
이와 같은 사항을 반영한 본 연구는 노인복합센터로서 노인전문병원, 노인요양센터, 웰니스 센터에 대한 자료를 수집ㆍ분석하고 전반적인 문제점을 파악하여 친환경 설계기법을 이용한 치유환경으로서 노인복합센터를 계획하고자 한다. 인간 활동과 환경과의 조화를 모색함으로써 건강한 신체와 삶을 유지하고, 환경을 치료를 위한 하나의 도구로 여겨, 환자의 스트레스 극복을 도와주고 나아가 질병 치유에 효과적이고 호전적인 건강상태를 위한 노인복합센터가 될 것이다.
또한, 본 계획은 기존의 노인복지시설에서 지적되어 왔던 노인의 사회적 문제점들을 극복하기위해 지역사회와 통합을 고려한 웰니스 센터의 기획으로 노인복합센터를 이용하는 노인들과 지역주민들 사이에 지역커뮤니케이션이 가능한 공간으로서 새로운 도심형 노인복합센터의 제안이 될것이다.

As life expectancy of people is prolonged together with economic growth and development of modern medical technology, population ratio of the elderly is increasing and in case of Korea, speed of this aging appears very fast compared to other advanced countries. Recently with the increase of the elderly equipped with competitiveness, the elderly attempting to participate in social activities are increasing and demands for facilities supporting leisure life of local the elderly are increasing too.
Environmentally friendly planning factors concerning the physical characteristics of the elderly were site planning, residence and hospital complex and building, and interior design. Especially exterior and interior finishes should be a natural resource or healthy materials. Site planning, building construction, and landscape were the factors which related the psychological characteristics of the elderly.
The purpose of this study is to progressed compound combination of elderly facilities in Korea. In order th achieve this purpose, three type the elderly facility, first, the elderly hospital, the elderly residence and wellness center. Nature friendly facilities built by placing Three garden and central community square for the elderly to view the natural sceneries and also by solving sunlight and ventilation problem. In case of elderly facilities, they must be planned to satisfy characteristics and demands of the elderly because different designs can affect environment psychology and behaviors of the elderly. Therefore, this study can be utilized as an alternative in designing elderly complex center where exchanges between households can be promoted actively by finding out and understanding theories about compound combination and spacial characteristics of the elderly compound facilities.
