삼천년기를 맞이하면서 우리의 인식과 행위의 모든 측면에 영향을 끼치는 새로운 문화의 놀라운 도전에 직면해서 가정은 그 역할과 기능에 많은 변화를 가져오고 있다. 하느님께서 창조된 세상을 품어 안으시는 놀라운 사랑이 가정의 근본을 이루고 있다면, 인간 생명문화의 변화와 더불어, 우리는 신앙의 가장 중요한 여정의 토대가 되는 가정의 근본적 의미를 다시 고찰하지 않을 수 없다. 이런 상황 속에서 창세기를 중심으로, 하느님 안에서 궁극적인 실존의 의미가 드러나는 가정 공동체의 실존적 여정이 어떻게 진행되어 가는지를 세 가지 움직임에서 분석하는 것이다.
말씀을 통한 창조의 과정 안에는 분리를 통한 질서가 형성되며, 이것은 하나의 대립이나 대칭을 의미하기 보다는, 통합되기도 하고 구별되기도 하는 개방된 창조적 특성을 의미하는 것이다. 마찬가지로 인간 존재가 본래적으로 또 다른 성(性)과 구별되지만 상호 관련이 있다는 의미는 인간 홀로 자기 자신을 정의할 수 없다는 의미로 해석된다. 인간의 이성애적(異性愛的) 본능은 자신과는 다른 성(性)을 향해 근본적으로 개방되어 있고 여기에서 자신의 존재의 충만성을 발견하게 된다(창세 1,27).
그러나 창세 16,1-16에서 사라가 하느님의 약속을 신뢰하지 못하고 인간적인 방법을 시도하는 근거에는 하느님의 길과 세상의 길이 다르게 해석되고 있다는 사실을 신학적으로 함축하고 있다. 결국 모든 생명의 단절은 하느님을 향한 믿음의 문제이고 인간적이고 세상적인 방법을 모색하는 시도에서 발생한다고 해석할 수 있다.
창세 12에서 아브라함의 부르심과 떠남이라는 응답은 바로 생명과 사랑이신 하느님의 구원 계획을 통해 앞으로 일어날 새로운 상황에 대한 한 가정의 책임자로서의 인격적인 동의(同意)이며 동화(同化)로 이해해야 할 것이다. 자신이 소속된 가정에서 나와 새로운 상황 속에서 가정 공동체를 이룬다는 것은 어떤 의미에서 새로운 창조를 계승하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 새로운 가정을 이루는 구성원은 계승된 과거의 요소들을 보유하고 있지만 과거와 동일시할 수 없는 새로운 창조의 공간 속에서 그 요소들을 새로이 조성하게 되는 것이다. 이 경우, 미래에 직면하게 될 불확실한 상황은 가족 구성원을 두렵게 하지만, 믿음과 사랑의 관계는 인간 실존을 뒤흔들어 미래를 향해 과감히 발걸음을 떼어 놓도록 이끈다.
가정의 정체성은 창조주이시며 구원자이신 하느님의 경이로운 구원 계획안에 그 뿌리를 내리고 있기 때문이다. 하느님 현존의 체험은 분열이 아닌 화해와 일치의 장을 열게 이끈다. 한 가정의 형제들의 역사를 통해서 하느님의 자녀들의 역사가 하느님 말씀과의 친교와 대화의 관계 속에서 인간 실존의 방향이 정향되어야 한다는 사실을 가르쳐 주고 있다. 여기서 하느님은 인간의 역사 속에서 현존하시며 그 역사를 축복과 약속으로 인도하시는 계약에 충실한 분으로 계시되고 있는 것이다. 중요한 것은 가정이 바로 하느님의 구원 계획을 이 세상에 실현하는 기본 토대이며 그분의 진리를 체험하는 개방된 장이라는 사실이다. 가정이 직면한 빛과 어둠이 교차하는 시대적 상황은 가정이 그 본연의 모습으로 돌아오기 위해 그 원천으로 돌아가야 한다는 사실을 명확히 일깨우고 있다고 본다.

Now we are in the 3rdmillennium epoch. The family value is changing greatly in its role and capability facing to a grave challenge driving from new culture which takes major influential part of our recognition and behaviors. If the amazing love of God who created and hold the world is the base of the family, along with the change of human-life culture, now is the time to think about the fundamental value of the family again. Because the family is the most important key stone of our religious journey. Under this condition, centering for Genesis, hereby try to analyze the three movements of how the family-community existential journey developed the existential meaning in God.
In the process of God’s creation by Word, he formed the order through the division. This means that it is not confrontation nor symmetry, but the characteristics of open creativeness of integration and distinction. Also the meaning of human being itself divided into two different gender but those two are co-related, which is interpreted that man is hard to define itself alone. The instinct of heterosexual love is opened to opposite gender fundamentally, in here human can discover the fullness of being itself(Gen 1,27).
But in Gen 16,1-16, the ground of Sarah’s human trial due to her disbelief God’s promise implicated that the God’s way and the terrestrial world’s way were interpreted in different way, theologically. Eventually, it is interpreted in this way that the extinction of all life is the matter of belief toward God and is the trial of humanistic and terrestrial world way.
In Gen 12, the calling and the Abraham’s response of departing is to be understood that his characteristic agreement and assimilation to God’s salvation project. To God, who is life and love, Abraham answered him the newly happening situation as a head of the family. Forming of new family community from existing family to a new and unknown situation meant, in a certain point of view, that succeeding the new creation. The new family members still have old succeeded components but they form new component in the era of new creation, which can’t be the same as the past. In this situation, the uncertain conditions facing in the future give fear to family members, the relationship from belief and love can sway hard the human existence, then lead them to step forward to the future resolutely.
The reason of this is that the identity of family took root into the God’s wondrous salvation project. God is the creator and the savior. The experience of God’s existence lead us to the stage of reconciliation and unity not to division. Through the history, the family members who are the children of God headed for the right direction for human existence through God’s word, his friendship and communication. In here, God always exists in human history, and he is revealed as a royal one who is faithful to his covenant which lead the history into blessing and promising. The most important thing is that the family is the base for the realization of God’s salvation project in this world, and also the family is the open stage where we can experience his truth. The periodical situation crosses the light and the darkness each other make the family aware of going back to the fountainhead to get its original shape.
