본 연구의 목적은 청소년을 대상으로 이들이 함께 살고 있는 가족의 형태(친부모, 친모, 친부, 계부모)에 따른 가족기능과 심리적 안녕의 정도를 알고자 하는 데 있다. 연구대상자는 부산에 있는 고등학교에 재학죽인 남녀 학생 1070명이다. 가족기능은 Beavers의 "Self-Report Family Inventory(SFI)Il"로 심리적 안녕은 Campbell의 ‘Index of Well-being’으로 측정하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대상자의 동거부모형태 분포는 친부모와 동거하는 청소년이 940명(87.9%), 계부나 계모(계부모)와 동거하는 청소년이 23명(2.1%), 친부나 친모(한부모)와 동거하는 청소년이 101명(9.4%)이었다. 둘째, 청소년이 지각한 가족체계유형은 건강가족이 32.6%, 중간범위가족이 48.3%, 경계선가족이 17.5%, 심각한 역기능가족이 1.6%이다. 셋째, 친부모가족과 친모가족의 청소년이 계부모가족의 청소년보다 자신의 가족을 더 건강하다고 지각하고 있었다. 넷째, 친부모와 친모와 동거하는 청소년의 심리적 안녕 점수가 계부모가족 및 친부가족의 청소년의 심리적 안녕 점수보다 높았고, 가족이 기능적일수록 심리적 안녕도 높다. 다섯째, 친부가족의 건강가족 청소년의 심리적 안녕이 특히 높다. 이는 청소년과 아버지와의 관계가 가족기능과 심리적 안녕에 중요한 요인이 될 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.

  The purpose of this study was to examine family functions and psychological well-being of adolescents according to their parents" marital status. 1070 subjects of male and female high school students filled out "Self-Report Family Inventory (SFI) Ⅱ" (Beavers & Hampson, 1990) and "Index of Well-being" (Campbell, 1976). Parents" marital statuses were categorized into "both biological parents family"(BBP) (87.9%), "biological parent-step parent family"(BPSP)(2.1%), "biological father only family"(BFO)"(4.0%), and "biological mother only family"(BMO)(5.4%). As to the family types of Beavers model, about a half of the subjects perceived their family as "midrange" (48.3%), a third as "healthy" (32.6%), 17.5% as "borderline", and 1.6% as "severely disturbed". The subjects from BBP and BMO are more likely to be classified as "healthy" and less as "disturbed", than those from BPSP and BFO. A similar result was found with the psychological wellbeing, which correlated positively with the level of family functioning. The highest psychological wellbeing was found with the subjects from "healthy" BFO. The results were discussed with regard to child rearing.
