본 논문은 한국의 결혼한 남성과 여성이 부부 간의 사랑을 어떻게 개념화하고 섹슈얼리티를 경험하는지에 대한 논의를 통해서 친밀성의 개념화를 시도하고자 한다. 본 연구의 주요한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이데올로기로써 낭만화 된 사랑이 아닌 결혼 관계 내에서 사랑은 구체적으로 어떻게 정의되며, 이는 성적 쾌락과 어떤 연장선상에 있는지를 살펴본다. 둘째, 결혼 관계 내에서 해소되지 않은 성적 욕망과 쾌락이 결혼 밖에서 어떻게 구조화되는지를 살펴본다. 이를 통해서 결혼 관계 내의 성적 배타성이 가지는 허구적 성격에 대해 토론하면서 한국 사회 내의 성적 친밀성을 비판적으로 재구성한다. 마지막으로, 탈 근대적 결혼제도 내의 충돌하는 지점으로서 친밀성의 서로 다른 이해와 갈등의 내용을 살펴봄으로써 한국 사회 내에서 친밀성을 어떻게 다르게 정의할 것인지를 논의한다. 본 연구의 방법은 여성주의적 방법론에 근거한 심층면접법을 주요한 방법으로 사용하였다. 본 연구의 사례들은 결혼한 경험을 남녀 14사례를 주요한 연구 참여자로 면접하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 얻은 결론을 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부부 간의 사랑의 개념은 성별적으로 차이를 나타내기 보다는 구체적인 결혼 경험의 차이에 따라 낭만적, 성애적, 의존적 혹은 복합적인 사랑으로 다양하게 구분된다. 따라서 부부 간의 성적 쾌락에 대한 의견들도 성별 간의 차이보다는 사랑에 대한 개념, 그들이 경험한 구체적인 결혼 생활 내의 성관계 등의 차이에 따라 개개인에 따라 다양한 구성방식을 드러낸다. 둘째, 반면 성적 배타성을 둘러싸고 여성들의 경우 남편과의 성관계에 있어서 소원하면서도 결혼관계 유지를 위한 가장 중요한 계약 사항으로 내면화한다. 남성들은 성적 배타성과 결혼관계 유지를 별개의 문제로 취급하는 경향이 높다. 마지막으로 기러기 가족, 섹스리스 커플의 증가 등의 탈 근대화되기 시작한 결혼 형태 안에서 한국적인 친밀성의 개념은 성ㆍ사랑ㆍ결혼이라는 근대적 결혼의 의식적 이상화와 대별되는 가족주의 근거한 전통적 결혼제도 사이에서 갈등하고 혼돈하면서 구성된다는 점을 밝혔다.

  This research is to study the framework, which the increase of divorce rate, decrease of marriage rate and child-birth rate are closely interrelated with the changes in the sexuality of Korean married life. The purpose of this research is as follow. Firstly, this research intends to find the significances between the romantic love and sexuality within married life. Secondly, this research will show how Korean married men and women have lively constructed sexual desire and pleasure. Finally, through the reconstruction of sexuality within marriage, this research will examine the concept of sexual intimacy in the Korean context. In this process, this research will discover how the concept of intimacy in Korea is different from that in the western context and will show the diverse changes in the structure of the Korean family.
  The specific question of this research is that firstly, what the concept of love within Korean married couple is. This research will examine whether the concept is erotic love, romantic love or something. Secondly, in order to examine the sexual desire and pleasure within married couples, this research will focus on the extramarital sexual relations. It is because most of married couples have not satisfied with making sex with their spouse. In this sense, we will find the specific concept of sexual intimacy in the Korean context. Finally this research will investigate the marriage as a post-colonial type and hence intend to show the dilemma between the absence of sexual intimacy and the enforcement of sexual exclusion.
  The main method of this research is the in-depth interview method based upon feminist methodology. The participants of this research are the fourteen persons with the experiences of marriage. Six of the total interviewees are an acquaintance of researcher and I gathered another twelve interviews through snowballing. The process of interview is from December 2004 to January 2006.
