Lifelong learning society is the essential part of the whole picture of the society in 21 century. Lifelong learning society might be able to free us from the cultural traps of 21 century¡¯s post-modern world.
The notion of learning through life is hardly new. However, with the development of ¡®lifelong learning society' makes it general that education should be lifelong. According to this view, lifelong education must not be regarded as a luxury for a few exceptional persons here and there, nor as a thing which concerns only a short span of early humanhood, but that lifelong education is a permanent national necessity, an inseparable aspect of citizenship, and therefore should be universal.
Some primary tasks of philosophy of education for the realization of ideal lifelong learning society are as following:
1) Philosophy of education should take charges for overcoming the confusion of the conceptions and norms related to the lifelong learning.
2) Philosophy of education should take charges for overcoming the ageism to realize the lifelong learning society where every individual of any age can have the equal opportunity of education.
3) Philosophy of education should be responsible for building up the ideal of the educated person as well as the purpose of education in lifelong learning society.
4) Philosophy of education should be answerable to the concepts of the individual's rights of lifelong learning and of human right to the degree that every individual in our society enjoys the human dignity and the quality of life. Indeed, without the effort of philosophy of education, we will fail to develop the concepts of the individual's right of lifelong learning and of human right to the degree that every individual in our society enjoys the human dignity and the quality of life.
5) Philosophy of education should be providing the vitality that enables each field of education to realize its responsibility for the betterment of present educational as well as social situation in such a way that educational practice in our society contributes to the humanization of our social practice.
