The purpose of this study is to explore the. ideological directiveness of the Korean lifelong learning society. To achieve this purpose, this study is focused on two aspects. At first, this study reviewed the origins and issues on dispute of the theory of lifelong learning society. Next, this study explored the directiveness which can be an ideological guiding post of the new system of education in 21st century Korean society and should be pursued by lifelong learning society.
In the discussion on the ideological origins of lifelong learning society were mainly discussed the theory of liberal learning society, of market-centered learning society, of deschooling learning society, and to discuss omitted part in these three categories additional discussion on the theory of lifelong education was added.
As the main disputed issues of lifelong learning society were discussed on the three disputed issues; constructing learning society vs. constructing learning economy, forming the complete man vs. forming the man with lifelong employability, and expanding the publicness of education vs. stressing marketableness of education.
The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the ideological directiveness of Korean lifelong learning society should aim at forming more complete man through the recovering the nature of education. Second, Korean lifelong learning society be settled down as the new system of education that has progressively overcome the limit of modern school-centered system of education. Third, Korean lifelong learning society should be the educational support system for the completion of meritocracy.
