Researches on the role and type of NPO leaders are not many even if roles of NPOs in modern society have been rapidly activated In this regard, it seems to be worthwhile to try to search for role types of NPO leaders in relations with their main tasks.
Paying attention to inherent characteristics of NPOs, this paper attempts to single out distinctive role types of NPO leaders from the following four perspectives with two dimensions. first, time present situation and future direction, and secondly, space: inside and outside of an organization. It emphasizes that different leadership type should be provided with different organizational situation In addition, major traits NPO leaders should possess are briefly discussed.
In conclusion, successful NPO leaders could change their leadership role type according to the situation of their organization.
