우리나라 대부분의 대학이 교양 한문교육의 절실한 필요성을 인지하지 못하고 있는 실정 속에서, 대학 교양 한문 교육의 방향과 과제를 연구하기 위해, 대구ㆍ경북 지역 대학 교양 한문교육의 현황을 고찰해 보기로 한다.
연구 시점인 2004년 12월 이전의 우리나라 대학의 교양 한문교육은 광복 이후 지속적으로 추진된 ‘한글 전용’ 정책과 ‘世界化’ㆍ‘情報化’의 미명하에 영어과 중심의 교과편제 속에서 소홀시 되어 왔다. 그러나 일부의 대학에서 교육의 精神과 目的에 입각하여 볼 때 한문이 필요한 교과목이며 指導的人格을 陶冶하는데 필요한 일반과목이라는 점이 인정되어, 지속적인 강의가 이루어졌다.
현재 대구ㆍ경북 지역 대학의 교양한문 교육은 대학 보다는 주로 대학교를 중심으로 이루어지고 있는데, 그 이유는 이공계가 주류를 이루는 대학이 취업을 목적으로 한 전문 지식 교육에만 주안을 두기 때문이다. 대학교 위주의 교양 한문교육 역시 강좌 개설의 恒常性, 관련 강좌 간의 連繫性 그리고 實用性 또는 活用性의 문제를 내포하고 있다. 교재들은 과거의 교양 교재에 나타나는 작가, 작품, 사상의 편중성이 비교적 많이 보완되어 문장 중심의 敎養漢文類, 한자어 중심의 實用漢字類, 양자의 복합형, 文化論類, 그리고 漢文學 槪論類 등으로 다양화 되고 있다. 그러나 아직도 과거의 교양교재에 나타나던 특정 작가 및 작품에의 편향성이 반복되고 있으며, 지식인으로서의 교양 습득과 국제사회와의 커뮤니케이션 수단의 획득이라는 사회적 요구에 적절히 부응하지 못하는 실정이다.
이를 위해 교육 주체라 할 수 있는 각 대학에서는 교육 객체의 요구에 부 응할 수 있는 교재 개발과 연계성 있는 강좌 개설 그리고 우수한 교수진의 확보를 통해 이러한 문제의 해결에 노력해야 할 것이다. 또 교육 객체로서 의 학생들은 한자ㆍ한문에 대한 선입견을 탈피하여 자신의 필요에 따른 적절한 강좌 및 교재를 요구함으로써 수요자 중심의 실제적인 한문교육이 이루어지도록 협조해야 할 것이다.

Before, the chinese literature as a cultural studies was thought to indifference in the name of the Han-gul exclusive use policy, Globalization, Information. On the ground of an educational spirit and a purpose, the necessity of the chinese literature as a cultural studies and the cultivation of character was being accepted. As a result, a lasting lecture for the chinese literature as a cultural studies was followed.
The chinese literature as a cultural studies in Dae-gu, Kyung-pook area was formed an education around the university than the college. The reason why is that the college is made up of a department of science and technology and it pursuit an expert knowledge for the working. The chinese literature as a cultural studies around the university also had many problems like that a homeostasis of a lecture, a connection of a lecture and a practicality of a lecture. Before, teaching material was repletion too much of writer, work, thought. Nowdays it was diversified a kind of Gyo-yang han-mun, Sil-yong han-ja, a complex style teaching materials of Gyo-yang han-mun and Sil-yong han-ja, a cultural theory style, an instruction to chinese literature and etc. Yet, many problems like that too much of writer, work, the social request of knowledge learning as a culture and a means for the international communication was followed.
To solve these problems, each university as an educational subject try to develop a teaching material, open a lecture, ensure a superior teacher. And the student as an educational object try to grow out of a precnception, select a proper lecture, request a teaching material's development.
