In retrospect for past thirty years our surprising growth has been achieved in both quality and quantity by the painstaking endeavor and passion of predecessor teachers. I want to give them much thanks.
In the early times, since the department of education for classical Chinese was started in the less prepared state, we underwent the many difficulties for orientation and experienced trial and errors to position the educational aims and curriculum operation. But as the concept of literature of classical Chinese was gradually arranged and the studies of Korean literature in classical Chinese was accumulated by the enthusiastic toils of the researchers and associations related with literature of classical Chinese, so the professors majoring in Korean literature in classical Chinese and Korean classical learning have made a main stream in universities, and finally Korean literature in classical Chinese have been positioned as a center stem, which has far wide differences from the past curriculum.
For now, however, after thirty years, new curriculum operation for harmonizing ¡®Chinese character¡¯, ¡®classical Chinese¡¯ and ¡®text education¡¯ is needed for future. It is right time to discuss the revision for stepping with social requirement and reality, not for the existing one-side education of ¡®classics of classical Chinese¡¯.
Teaching method only with chalk and blackboard is impossible to attract the interests of internet generation. Effectual teaching method using various tools should be tried for motivating learning and these techniques be applied in school and society.
From now on we have to look back in cool stance and to strive to make department of education for classical Chinese meet to new environment and paradigm.
