This study has been done to describe the characteristics of social problems in the digital media era and suggest the educational alternatives. For this, this study examined what kinds of problems there are which caused by the development of digital technologies and the results are as follows. Firstly, individual-centered society is being formed and the influence of the media on human consciousness is being extended. Secondly, the subjectivity of human-beings is weakened and the data sovereignty problems happen. Thirdly, the post-truth phenomenon is expanding. To solve these problems, education to foster the digital citizenship by making students acquire the literacy suitable for the digital society is needed. This study suggests the literacy education methods in Social Studies as follows. Firstly, both zoom-in and zoom-out strategies should be used together in the learning process and value access to the technologies should be recommended as well. Secondly, data sovereignty education should be reinforced to make the students recognize their right as a data subject and practice it. Thirdly, literacy classes using the news should be expanded to make adolescents recognize their habituated superfcial and biased reading problems and get out of those tendencies.

The classification is one type of convergent problem-solving in the context of creative problem-solving. The classification learning method in curriculum and textbook is not discriminate using the animate and inanimate object as learning material. However, the classification of animate and inanimate is related to the different neurological systems of the human brain. For the success of classification learning in class, we need to clarify pre service teacher’s cognitive strategy during animate and inanimate classification involved categorization. The researcher recruited 24 pre-service teachers to investigate brain activation during the classification of animate and inanimate using fMRI. As a result of this study, the researcher could find the similarity and difference of brain activation between animate and inanimate classification. The activation of DLPFC, PMC, the secondary visual cortex in the human brain equally checked out on animate and inanimate classification. Also the activation of LIP in the parietal region was showed on inanimate classification, and the activation of the occipitotemporal cortex was confirmed on animate classification. Consequently, pre-service teachers’ animate classification was related to the frontal temporal path of information processing, and inanimate classification was related to the frontal-parietal path of information processing.

This study was analyzed whether children s transformation geometry ability can be developed through educational programs using tangram, and how the brain was activated and changed in the process. The subjects of this study are 20 first-year elementary school students, a single group pre test-post test experimental research design was employed. There are three types of transformational geometry tasks: house as a translation, square as a rotation, swan as a reflection. The research results are as follows. First, the difference in the accuracy rate according to the pre and post-test was significant in house and square. Second, DLPFC was activated in all three tasks as a result of analyzing the difference between the brain active regions before and after the program in solving translation, rotation, and reflection tasks. In square task, VLPFC were significantly activated and in the task, FPPFC were significantly activated along with the activation of DLPFC. Third, the functional connectivity of brain activity in pre and post tasks was analyzed. In the pre test, only channel6(R) in the DLPFC region and channel 10(R) in the VLPFC region showed a connectivity of.834. In the post task, channel 12(R) showed functional connectivity with DLPFC, OFC, and VLPFC, and functional connectivity of the brain was found only in the right hemisphere. However, in the post task, there was a significant functional connection between the left and right hemispheres.

This study aimed to investigate to what extent sentiment analysis can be applied to tone analysis of persuasive essays as a predictor for scores of the essays. To this end, the sentiment analysis of the text mining program ‘Orange3’ was utilized. This study first looked at the effects of Vader s sentiment indices (positive, negative, neutral, and compound values) on the total score of positive and negative essays. As a result, in the positive essay, all the sentiment analysis results had a significant effect on the total score. In particular, it was confirmed that the compound value had the greatest influence as a predictor of the total score of the positive essay as well as the scores in the four sub-scoring domains—task performance, content, organization and language use. On the other hand, it turned out that there were no significant relationship between sentiment indices and scores of negative essays. These results suggest that even if learners write a persuasive essay with either positive or negative tone, they could expect a higher score when comparing the two opposite positions rather than the one-sided one. This was also confirmed to some extent through word cloud analysis. Of course, there were some limitations in this study as well but it showed the applicability of sentiment analysis to predict scores of persuasive essays.

The purpose of this study is to design an artificial intelligence classification model using an AI education platform, and an AI·science convergence program that can be applied to elementary education with the AI classification model. First, an AI classification model was created that has been trained with image data of four representative rock types in the elementary science curriculum. With a recognition rate of 89.1% for the rock samples, it can be fully utilized in the classroom. Based on it, a six-hour-program was developed for elemontary school education. This program was developed based on the 2015 Science Curriculum and the artificial intelligence area of the Standard Model of Next-generation Software Education, and was reviewed by three elementary science education experts and three software education experts to ensure feasibility. The program is easy to be applied to classrooms and will meet the expectations of improving students’ science core competencies and artificial intelligence performance expectation on the Standard Model of Next-generation Software Education.

The purpose of this study was to develop a digital textbooks of the ‘Genetics’ unit, a part of Life Sciences I in high school to evoke students’ motivation to learn the micro object. In addition, the digital textbook was designed to be applied in the remote class with realtime interaction based on the iBooks Author as a authoring tool with diverse widgets. Specifically, the realtime remote class was applied the Zoom platform as the online teaching and learning tool with a realtime interaction among teacher and students. The introduction section of the digital textbook was made and provided a Zoom button to interact among teacher and students and some video clips related to life science curriculum contents to enhance students immersion in learning. Each page was included digital contents such as gallery widgets, media widgets, presentation widgets, and interactive widgets for learning genetics. Furthermore, a bingo game using the Hype 3 was developed to evoke student’s learning motivation on the Mendel s laws of independence. At the end of the section, the digital textbook was provided a page to summarize the learning content using the sketch widget. The developed digital textbook has been evaluated as a positive educational material for learning the genetic in the untact and remote class situation with realtime interaction. Furthermore, the digital textbooks could be provided a useful and valuable learning resource for self-directed learning in life science.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PBL (Problem-Based Learning) on ‘key competencies’ in a welding practice of a specialized high school. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a practical class with PBL was developed and applied to students in a welding practice of a specialized high school facility department, and a basic vocational competency test presented in the related prior studies was examined. First, the welding practice with the industrial facility department was analyzed, and the study material and draft for the teaching·learning process to which the PBL was applied were developed, and then corrected and supplemented through expert verification. Next, the industrial facility department students in C industrial specialized high school located in Daejeon were divided into 19 experimental and control groups, respectively, and PBL was applied to the experimental group and traditional learning methods were applied to the control group. Pre/post-tests were conducted to the experimental group and the control group before and after class as a vocational key competency test sheet, and the results were analyzed using the corresponding sample t-test. The results of the study through the above process are as follows. The basic vocational competency of the experimental group improved significantly, and that of the control group did not show any significant change. Therefore, it has been empirically confirmed that PBL has positive effects on the improvement of students basic vocational competency in industrial facility department welding practice.

This study is to investigated health related fitness and academic achievement of elementary school students who regularly participated in early morning floorball activity for 8 weeks. To achieve the purpose of this study, 6th graders at M Elementary School in the G City, Gyeonggi-do, 18 students(9 boys and 9 girls), who would like to participate in a early morning floorball activity were selected as an exercise group and a comparison group to measure their health related fitness and academic achievement before and after the experiment. The t-test were conducted, using SPSS Win 21.0 Package Statistics Software. The results were as follows; First, the early morning floorball activity was effective for the improvement of cardiopulmonary endurance of the boys and muscular strength of the girls. Second, the early morning floorball activity contributed to improving their academic achievement. In conclusion, the study should be conducted by setting various exercise intensity, time, frequency, and duration by applying various newsport events and different participants in constructing early morning physical activity programs.

In this study, the science cooking class programs that combines cooking and experimentation were developed and applied as a student-centered science class to 39 students in the free semester of the first year of middle school. After that, a questionnaire was developed and surveyed to explore how students recognize the effects of science cooking class on students affective domain (interest and attitude) toward science class. In addition, students were interviewed and analyzed in order to explore the concrete content and reasons that students recognized the effect of science cooking class. As a result of the study, 87% of the students who participated in science class recognized that science cooking class brought positive improvement in the interest and attitude toward science class. Some students (5%), who had a high degree of interest only in cooking while having difficulty in science, still had low interest and attitude toward science class even after science cooking class. However, most of the students who liked or hated cooking showed increased interest and attitude toward science class through science cooking class. Therefore, it can be concluded that a science experiment using cooking is very useful in enhancing the effect of the affective domain for students in science class. Since science cooking class is useful for student participatory class and convergence education, it is suggested that the development and application of various science cooking class programs applicable in the school field need to be further spread.

This study explored the overconfidence bias and hard-easy effects of students biological concept levels and self-monitoring accuracy. To this end, 361 high school first and second grade students participated in the study. As a consequence of this study, there were differences between genders or years in the four types of knowledge-confidence and significant differences between genders in specificity. As a result of clustering model analysis, hard-easy effects were found in a large number of students, and there were many cases in which the tendency to overconfidence was noticeable. Based on these findings, it was suggested that students should be educated to recognize and reduce hard-easy effects and overconfidence bias through different educational strategy between student groups.

The purpose of this study is to find out the cognitive strategy during the mental rotation activities and to find out the changes of spatial sense accordingly. To do this, this study developed a mental rotation activity program for six sixth-grade students and conducted five mental rotation activities twice each, a total of 10 times. As a result, first, cognitive strategies vary depending on the complexity of mental rotation activities. Second, simultaneous use of both overall and partial approach strategies and psychological and analytical processing strategies, perspective fixation, and perspective change strategies can increase the accuracy of recognition. Third, there is a tendency to use cognitive strategies differently in terms of processing methods, depending on the task of mental rotation activities. Fourth, the ability to rotate the sense of space has been improved by the mental rotation activity. As a result of this study, the following conclusions could be obtained. Cognitive strategies are used differently depending on the complexity of mental rotation activities, so students need to provide psychological rotation activities with varying degrees of difficulty to experience various cognitive strategies.

This study explored what needs to be urgently improved in order to settle the processfocused evaluation by examining the existing process-focused evaluation policies and the teacher s perception on the effectiveness of these policies. To this end, suggested policies by previous research were reviewed and then a survey was designed to investigate teachers perceptions on these suggested policies. The survey results show that the teachers perceived that the processed-focused evaluation is difficult to implement in the classroom due to the distrust of students and their parents about the evaluation. Even students could not avoid the extra learning burden because they may be required to involve more activities for this evaluation. The teachers also seem to believe that the policies suggested to enhance teachers’ evaluation ability would not be helpful. In fact, they responded that more detailed guidelines need to be developed because the current evaluation guideline is closer to a brochure broadly introducing this evaluation rather than a manual showing a way to implement the process-focused evaluation. The survey results also show that it would be helpful for teachers if simplifying the NEIS system instead of building a new management system. Finally, even though the current college admission system may be recognized as an obstacle to the implementation of the process-focused evaluation in school, the teachers believe that it would be difficult to solve this problem as long as there is fierce competition among students due to the college admission system.

The purpose of this study is to analyze online peer feedback provided during high school physics lab classes. A stage of online peer feedback was included, and thirteen high school students participated in the stage to provide online peer feedback on the experiment report written during a physics lab class. The students were asked to add a comment on the reports for feedback. Characteristics of online peer feedback have been analyzed, followed by analysis of responses of students who received feedback depending on addition of comments for feedback. Evaluation standards of experiment reports have been used to compare the reports between before and after receiving online peer feedback, and a survey has been conducted to examine students perceptions of online peer feedback. The results show that the most feedback was provided on the parts with unclear description, and most the comments included detailed and reasonable feedback criticizing the contents or suggesting more acceptable descriptions. Conclusively, online peer feedback has significantly increased student’s final marks of experiment reports at each stage, and students have found to positively perceive online peer feedback taken place during physics lab classes.

The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in the perception of secondary science teachers about character education and the levels of teaching practice in the implementation of the Collaborative Problem-Solving for Character competence (CoProC) Instruction Model. We conducted a survey of three secondary science teachers on their perceptions of character education. The science classes that applied the CoProC instruction model were analyzed by CoProC teaching practice level assessment framework, and examined the perception of character education and changes in teaching practice level. The survey on perceptions of character education was carried out based on 7 selective and descriptive question items. Analysis of the science classes was conducted using the CoProC teaching practice level assessment framework. Through interviews we analyzed changes in teachers perception of character education and teaching practice levels. The study found that teachers perceptions of character education improved after science classes applied the CoProC instruction model. Through analysis of the science classes, we found out that the more science classes applied the CoProC instruction model the better the level of teaching practice.

The purpose of this study is to develop a survey tool that diagnoses cognitive biases in a scientist s research environment. The survey questions were developed based on 40 cognitive biases that are believed to be present in the scientists research environment. A survey of 83 scientist was conducted to verify the statistical validity and reliability of the developed questions. The questions developed can be used as a single-dimensional measurement tool. The survey tool demonstrates an appropriate level of statistical validity and reliability. This survey tool can be used to measure science researchers sensitivity to cognitive bias. It can also be useful for checking the research environment.
