This study was conducted to determine whether the employment status of mothers affected snacking patterns and food consumption frequencies of middle school students, including their ingestion of sweet food items. 612 students (303 boys, 302 girls) of a middle school located in Goyang, Korea, participated in this study as its subjects. The obtained results did not support the hypothesis that students whose mothers were employed outside the home consume snacks, especially sugary treats, more frequently than those whose mothers are full-time homemakers. On the contrary, according to the responses collected from the children, those whose mothers were employed outside the home answered that they ate kimchi (1.37 d from tse subjects were s/week respectively p < 0.05), fast food items (0.16 e subjects were s23 times/week, p < 0.05), chocolates (0.25 times/week, p < 0.05), chocolate food items (0.16 e subjects we or margarine (0.15 times/week. 0.26 ± 0.38 times/week, p < 0.01) significantly less frequently. However, in comparison to their counterparts, a greater number of subjects whose mothers were employed outside the home purchased their own snacks, prepared their own meals, and watched food commercials on TV more frequently. These occurrences suggest that this group may be nutritionally vulnerable and may require dietary education with regard to the selection of healthy snacks.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of parental involvement, autonomy support, adolescents internal and external motivation, and self-efficacy on academic achievement according to gender. The subjects of this study consisted of 469 middle-school students drawn from four middle schools in Daejeon, Cheongju City, Chung Nam, and Kyung Gi Province. Data was analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program and path analysis was done using the AMOS 5.0 program. As a result, this study showed that parental involvement and autonomy support had an effect on academic achievement through adolescent s internal & external motivation and self-efficacy. Thus, it suggested that to promote male student s academic achievement, it is very important for his mother to have interest on son s daily and school life, give him emotional support and encouragement, and have moderate external control of him while for female student, it is very important for her parent to motivate her through involvement and autonomy support until she is interested on learning and satisfied with itself.

The purpose of this research is to examine the modern expressions of traditional Korean clothing through design analysis of Tchaikim by Kim Young-jin, who has played a leading role among fashionable hanbok brands. The research examined the basic structure of traditional clothing through a literature review and prior study. On the basis of this, Tchaikim s products were analyzed item by item to examine design features and to analyze the use of traditional clothing. To collect the required data, we used the Tchaikim brand homepage and also their official blog. Among total 221 photos that were updated from May 2014 to December 2017, the final target of the study was 182. The collection was divided into coats, one-piece, top, and bottom, and the final target was 182, excluding 12 additional accessories that were not clearly expressed via traditional clothing. When looking at the most utilized traditional clothes, Tchaikim s design features were noted as follows. First, Cheollik was one of the styles of Poe most used in Tchaikim. Second, various uses of details in designs of various types of Jeogori can be seen. Third, the waist skirt is expressed that emphasizes a slim waist by wearing it on the waist, unlike a modern one worn on the upper chest. Fourth, Aekjurum was used as a detail to give points to the design used in the sidelines of coats or jackets or as decoration by using different colors. In addition, it was used in traditional clothing such as Dangui, Baeja, Pants, Simui, Junbok, Durumagi, and Dapho.

The purpose of this study is to develop a shirt design using Korean alphabet calligraphy and to explore the direction of development of designs that use Korean alphabet calligraphy by evaluating these design styles. The method of this study was to divide the expression types of calligraphy into four categories through a literature review and to develop design calligraphies shirts for each type. A total of 290 questionnaires were analyzed to survey design preferences of students in their 20s, the main target of such design development. The results were as follows. First, readable calligraphy shirts had a higher preference rate than non-readable types. Second, among all of the developed designs, the general readable type had a dominant preference, whereas there was low preference for non-readable types. In the case of non-readable types, the vowels were disassembled and the transmitted meaning was unclear. Or, it could be conjectured that the preference was low because the shapes of the vowels were not aesthetically pleasing. Third, when purchasing an actual calligraphy shirt, pattern placement and handwriting were the main factors that affected purchasing intent: designs that looked like patterns were preferred over general handwriting-style designs. That is to say, it was found that calligraphy looked like a natural pattern rather than a letter and also looked beautiful and hence was preferred overall. Therefore, it will be useful to design a shirt using Korean alphabet calligraphy, e.g., a design that expresses the pattern in a pattern-based format on its layout rather than emphasizing the shape of the letter or a design that renders calligraphy with a geometric pattern.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status and implication of temporary shelters for disaster victims through domestic and foreign case studies. A document research method and case studies were used to analyze and classify the spatial characteristics and types of temporary shelters since 2000. Researchers found three types, namely, partition type, tent type, and self-assembly type through the 16 case studies of domestic and foreign projects. In the analysis of these cases, two aspects were classified: the first was formal aspect, which was focused on the simplicity of shape, ease of deformation, and light weight of materials. The second was functional aspect, which was focused on cost-benefit, safety, durability, ease of use, and regional applicability. New considerations for disaster temporary shelters, such as sustainability, technology, and urban settings, must be assessed to determine how they can improve the quality of life, provide high-density housing for urban environments, expedite delivery and installation of shelter units, and provide options that are more acceptable to communities. Therefore, findings of this research through network content analysis and case studies will contribute to the current disaster housing strategies and will serve as guidelines at all levels: international, national, and local.

This study was aimed at evaluating accessibility situations of medical clinics in Cheongju-si, Chungbuk. Those studied were subjects of the Act on Guarantee of Promotion of Convenience of Persons with Disabilities, i.e., the Elderly, Pregnant Women, Among Others. It also assessed facilities that had a pharmacy in the same building to suggest possibilities for their improvement with respect to manual wheelchair users and thereby improving the accessibility of medical clinics to such individuals. A field survey with a structured checklist was conducted to total 24 medical clinics and 21 pharmacies in 21 buildings located in Cheongju-si during April and May 2017. The major findings were as follows: (1) Among 24 medical clinics, 23 were found to meet basic accessibility conditions for persons with mobility impairment in accessing the clinics from outside the buildings. (2) Among 21 pharmacies, nine were found to have no accessible entrance from both inside and outside the building. (3) A majority of the features with low application rates, below 30%, were found to be features that could be easily improved with low cost and minimal effort. In conclusion, it was suggested that improvements be made to the legislative system to enhance the overall accessibility of medical clinics. Also, to increase knowledge and garner the attention of local self-government officers and owners of buildings, medical clinics, and pharmacies regarding the needs and conditions of persons with disabilities with respect to accessing medical clinics and pharmacy facilities.

The purpose of this study is to understand the consumption propensity of Chinese Balinghou and Jiulinghou in the omni-channel environment of China and to analyze the effects of their propensity on omni-channel usage and satisfaction. An online survey was performed for Balinghou and Jiulinghou generation customers, i.e., those who were born between 1980 and 1999 and live across the country (in 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-tier cities). The survey was conducted by professional online survey company Mungunsung. A total of 500 respondents’ survey sets were utilized for the final analysis. The SPSS 23.0 statistical package was employed, along with frequency analysis, cross analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, regression analysis, and the Chow-test. The main study findings are as follows: first, Balinghou and Jiulinghou generations all showed the highest orientation for practical use in their consumption propensity . Second, in relation to their awareness of omni-channel, the Balinghou preferred stability, whereas the Jiulinghou preferred customization. In terms of the post-omni-channel-use reaction, the Balinghou showed the highest satisfaction with convenience, whereas the Jiulinghou showed the highest intention of reuse. Third, among the consumption propensities of Chinese customers, it was found that the stronger the orientation for practical use and reference group the more positive the awareness of omni-channel. Fourth, with regard to the awareness of omni-channel among Chinese customers, the higher the convenience and economy the more positive the tendency observed in the post-omni-channel-use reaction. Fifth, consumption propensity was found to be higher in the Balinghou than the Jiulinghou. The former also showed higher means than the latter generation in every factor of omni-channel awareness. When it comes to the post-omni-channel-use reaction, the Balinghou showed higher means than Jiulinghou in convenience satisfaction and intention to create positive word of mouth.
